Auckland Live eLearning Design: We were engaged by Show People Programme Manager, Suzy Randall, to deliver an online learning course to ensure a high standard of customer service was provided to patrons with accessibility needs. We instructionally designed the learning content that incorporated scenarios based on 'stories' of patrons attending shows. These stories were acted and played out by real patrons with accessibility needs within the surrounds of the theatres to add authenticity and context to the learning experience. We deliberately asked the patrons to be the voice behind their individual stories so their emotions and feelings about going to and being at a show could be conveyed. At the conclusion of the project, we delivered a module that encompassed five different scenarios / stories, including a test that allowed learners to assess their level of understanding. The test also gave learners the opportunity to try out different answers to learn why certain actions or responses were incorrect through feedback.
